  • Congress is working on making it illegal for feds to access pornography on their computers while they work. The House recently passed an amendment to a supplemental spending bill that bars agencies from using funds for computer networks unless the systems block pornography. The bill comes in the wake of incidents at the Interior Department, the National Science Foundation and the Securities and Exchange Commission — where feds spent hours on government systems surfing the web for porn. NextGov reports that the House amendment now has to go back to the Senate for approval.
  • This week’s Federal Security Spotlight checks in with Ernest McDuffie, the leader for the National Initiative on Cyber Security Education — NICE. NICE is a cybersecurity effort involving the Defense Department, Homeland Security, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and the Office of Personnel Management — and McDuffie coordinates it all from his office at NIST. On this week’s show, learn how he’s breaking down silos to enhance cybersecurity when he talks with host Tom Temin.
